Pastor’s Note

Happy June Church Family!

Who else has that summertime feeling? I, for one, am ready for time with family, beaches, lakes, pools, s’mores around the campfire, and fireflies floating in moonlight! Wherever you are going and whoever you are spending time with this summer, I hope and pray it is a time of reconnecting with those who matter to you, as well as reconnecting with the Holy Spirit that lives and breathes in you. And remember, you can always tune in to worship with Facebook live, or watch the recording while you are away on your many travels!

I am pleased to welcome Rev. Kevin Roberts to the pulpit this Sunday, June 4th. Rev. Roberts serves as the Director of Faith Relations and Mission Integration for Habitat for Humanity. He will be speaking about Habitat for the adult Sunday school class, as well as bringing the message for us in worship this Sunday. Next week we will welcome Ryan Kendrick of Siloam Health to our church! Stay tuned for future visits from places like Cul2vate Farms, Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, and the Body and Soul Food Pantry. What a joy to spend our summer learning about and serving with these excellent organizations doing neighborly work among us!

For those of you volunteering with the Habitat Unity Build this Saturday, our prayers and well wishes go with you. Thank you for serving our neighbors as they enter permanent housing! If you are not building or serving lunch, please pray with me over all our South End volunteers. We pray for safety and transformed hearts for all involved!

I hope and pray your summer is off to an amazing start. As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you ever want to chat, or if you have prayer requests you’d like to share with me. I’m honored to be in ministry to the world alongside you.

8 Week “Love Your Neighbor” Challenge

This 8-week, church-wide challenge is designed to help us in the South End community nurture meaningful relationships with our geographic neighbors. Our mission at South End is “to connect our neighbors to a spiritual home and to each other.” In Galatians 5:14 Paul says succinctly, “The entire law is summed up in a single command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Stay tuned to your email inbox to receive the weekly neighbor challenge and prayer prompt this summer!
